Ben Batchelor is currently lying in 4th place in the Sport fleet at the RS Tera Nationals. Patrick Cope is 15th, Alec Cope 34th, Tim Chan 50th and Alistair Kelly 53rd of 55 boats. In the 36 boat Pro fleet Erin Murphy is 23rd, Matt Perry 31st, Nathan Pickles 35th and Will Henthorn 36th. From what I gather the winds have been light and shifty, quite the opposite of our last training week where the wind didn’t drop below 16 knots! There is one more day of racing today – hopefully Ben will have a good day and get a podium place.

The RS Tera Nationals start tomorrow at Derwent Water, Yorkshire, seven Manx boats and one honorary Manxie have travelled to the event.

We have adopted Yorkshire lad Nathan as one of our since he learned to sail here at 7th Wave. Will and Nathan joined us for a few days training here last week too. We wish everyone the very best for the weekend

Our own Emily Batchelor has been away with her dad in Hayling Island sailing in the RS200 National Championships. They managed a credible 7th in Bronze Fleet and 71st Overall out of 118 boats.

Former World champions James Kelly together with Anna Harding and Greg Kelly sailing with Will Taylor (UK) were also flying the Manx flag.

Today seems to be the start of the northwesterly season!  Weather-wise this week has been a wee bit tricky.  We’ve got a group starting RYA Stage 1, a couple of folk doing Stage 2, a bigger group for Stage 3, James Holmes completing Stage 4 and a couple of lads on the advanced levels.  On top of all of that we’ve also got the Equiom Manx Youth Sailing Squad here training in preparation for the RS Tera National Championships later this month.

We managed to get on the water on Monday, with a sailing, kayaking and bodyboarding Breezy Beach Party and a match racing session for the Equiom Manx Youth Sailing Squad.  Yesterday all groups got afloat in the shelter of the harbour, except for the Squad who had a blast out in the bay working on heavy airs sailing.

Today – welcome to Port Erin in a north-westerly!  Not sure how today will pan out yet…

We have 2 places available on our Youth Sailing Week next week. If anyone has any youngsters (16 & under) that would like to learn to sail please get in touch. We are running Stage 1, Stage 3 & 4 and Advanced levels, so there is something for everyone….

Race training for juniors – this Saturday. We are offering a full day of coaching with a mini-regatta in the afternoon. It will be a great warm-up for anyone going to the Tera nationals and anyone who wants to get a bit of informal racing experience. Drop us a line if you’d like to join us.

The sun is shining and we have a lovely breeze here for sailing today.

So our Stage 1s, 3s, 4s, and Advanced courses are all off out on the water – yeay!

All is calm in Port Erin this morning, no wind at least the drizzle has gone now.  We are off out to sea for some kayaking, paddling, rowing and possibly a game of Stations later!

Great news from the RS Feva Worlds where three Manx boats are competing. Former Manx Youth Sailing Squad member and RS Tera World Champion Greg Kelly is lying in 11th place overall, scoring a 2 and 3 in racing yesterday. Ben Batchelor and Erin Murphy are 43rd in the Gold fleet and Ffinlo Wright with crew Rob Harding are 10th in the Silver fleet, 77th overall. Not a bad effort by the Manxies in a fleet of 184 boats!

Having an awesome week with our Stage 1 & 2 sailors this week. Mixed weather and a bit too much breeze at times, so sailing games tucked it the shelter of the harbour has been the order of the week. Today the breeze has dropped and we are off out with 420s, Topaz and Taz dinghies whoop!
